WALTHAM, MA—New England Choice Awards gala is all about celebrating the achievements and excellence. But every celebration must include some elements of poetry, dance, music and some comedy. Organizers of NECA gala thought about it and came up with a special theme: Teri Khwahishon Ka Suraj or the Ascent of Your Dreams.
“Teri Khwahishon Ka Suraj is the title of a poem especially written for NECA by Sunaiyana Kachroo, our local poetess,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, hostess of the evening and president of INE Multimedia, a non-profit organization that produces the annual New England Choice Awards in collaboration with INDIA New England News. “Sunayana will recite this poem at the gala.”
Everyone being honored at NECA gala have realized not only their dreams, but have inspired others to realize theirs too.
“The event is all about the not letting your dreams die despite all the struggles which are unique to all immigrants,” said Dr. Sheth. “This is an event which celebrates the Indian American community and those who have contributed to it.”
About 400 entrepreneurs, corporate executives, philanthropists, educators and community leaders are expected to attend the New England Choice Awards gala on Friday, Oct. 27, at Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA.
This year, NECA will have a special presentation by Ashish Shetty, a vice president at Goldman Sachs with passion for stand-up comedy.
“He is going to take a very light hearted look at Indian American community with our special traits and idiosyncrasies,” said Dr. Sheth.
She said NECA is also packed with some entertainment, which includes a spectacular dance performance by first ever Mrs. India Worldwide and scientist Namita Dodwadkar and her husband Nandish Desai.
“The couple will present a Bollywood salsa performance, and to rock the party after the award ceremony we will have our evergreen Dj Yogz team of Boston Sound & Light Company,” said Dr. Sheth.
